For final project(ENGL 201)

For the final project i m going to make cheesecake, I love baking but I haven't try that before.
So this is my first time to bake it. Maybe it's challenge for me, but can't wait to explore it:)

I am planning to make three flavors: original, coconut cream, green tea/grey tea.

First step (research part) i don't have any experience for making cheesecake, so I need to collect or find some recipes from the books or online. Then i will add some own ideas into it.
Second step- I have to buy some cake baking tools, such as pan, spatulas, a pair of gloves...
Last step-food materials, I m still thinking about it. I will post later:)

Why i m doing this?
............I am addicted to desserts, they are miracle!!!! They always can heal my broken heart..........haha.just kidding.

I choose this because most of time I eat them in the cafe or restaurants. I don't know how they made them and I m curious about the making process, so I want to try by myself at home. That’s why I choose this as my project.

I would like to take this chance to know more developing history about the cheesecake.

  1. I also have a soft spot in my heart for desserts. What do you know about the history of the cheesecake? How long have cheesecakes been around? Also, I have to say this: I was slightly puzzled by your second post entitled "Suicide is Painless." Is there a connection that we should be making between your post on suicide and your project to bake/make three different types of cheesecakes? If there is, I would be curious to know the connection and the logic you used therein. I'm excited to see how your cheesecakes turn out!

  2. Hi Yiwei! Yummy project! Here's one of my most favourite cooking shows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvQg6Q4jAQY . It's Japanese styled cooking and is called Cooking with Dog. In this episode they teach you how to make tofu cheesecake. You might want to try this since you're experimenting (I'm kind of guilty, I want to try some too)!

I've found a source on Google Scholar that can serve as your first steps to research. This book gives you history and processes behind cheesecake's basic ingredients: http://books.google.ca/books?id=d1obAgAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false

    Good luck1

  3. Juno, I have to confess... I am also very fond of cheesecake! But it is an intimidating dessert to make - I look forward to hearing how it turns out! It seems very complicated, and there are so many choices for ingredients. It seems like there are quite a few cheeses (or tofus!) that you can use. Looking forward to seeing some photos of how they turn out!
